Day-to-day Living in India

How do I get about in India?

India's railway network is the second largest in the world. Over fifteen million people travel on it per day. There are seven thousand stations, and prices are relatively low - especially next to UK train travel. The cost of a first class ticket is roughly double that of second class.

For the more remote, mountainous and beautiful areas, taking the bus or driving is essential. Busses can be overcrowded.

The international dialling code for India is +91.

Exactly where should I choose to start up?

If your business is focused on the contemporary or by taking advantage of India's emergence into the technology industries, the bigger cities such as New Delhi, Bangalore or Mumbai would be an ideal location to establish. If your business is more traditional, then your options are more flexible. For the more creative industries the abundant mountainous and scenic locations could well offer the inspiration that drives your success.
